What we believe.

We believe that God is love and is eternal, the creator and sustainer of all that exists.

God is continually seeking a relationship with his creation and in particular with his human children. His desire is to help us to turn from our sinful and selfish ways of living to his ways of love. This is God’s “mission” to our world.

God understands his people, he knows their weaknesses and limitations, and their difficulties in trusting things they cannot see and touch. Because of this he came to dwell amongst us in Jesus Christ. As always it is God who makes the first move it is God who searches us out.

Jesus revealed God in a way that human beings could understand. He demonstrated God’s absolute love and forgiveness by dying for us on a cross~ the greatest sign of God’s love and commitment to us. He rose again showing that sin and death do not have the last word. Through Christ’s death and resurrection we can share in his victory over evil and death and we can take our place in God’s eternal and everlasting kingdom. To follow Jesus is to allow him to lead us back to God and to our eternal home.

Our part in God’s mission.

Our eternal life begins here and now in this life and we are called to live for God and to work with him in his mission in the world. We are to work with God leading others to know him and building his kingdom of justice and peace on earth. This means growing together as a Christian community and reaching out to the wider world. We are to live out the love of God day by day.

To help us in our daily life, God gives to his people the Holy Spirit, his presence with and in us. The Holy Spirit guides, empowers and equips God’s people for their work in the world and helps them to talk with God and to hear his voice.

God’s people are called to love one another. Christians believe that every person is important to God whatever they have done and whatever they believe. This is difficult to practice and we rely on God’s help and his Spirit. This way of living requires forgiveness, patience, wisdom and an ability to walk in others shoes with compassion.
